Randy Palmer's Journey: From Anxiety to Addiction Recovery Advocate

In my family, addiction was a gift, like my addiction came into my family as a gift to teach us some things: to teach us how to better communicate, to teach us how to unite, to teach us how to support each other, to teach us, albeit temporarily, how to break social norms and do things differently, because out of necessity.
Imagine a typical childhood disrupted by sudden anxiety attacks. That’s how Randy Palmer's story begins. In this episode, Casey Scott and Dr. Matt Woolley chat with Randy, the owner of Family Council Recovery, about his personal battle with addiction. It all started with a simple tooth surgery and a prescription for Lortab, which initially eased his anxiety but soon spiraled into a dependence on illegal prescription meds.
Randy doesn't hold back as he recounts his darkest moments, failed relationships, and the heavy toll addiction took on his life and loved ones. But this isn't just a tale of struggle; it's one of resilience and hope. Randy shares what finally led him to seek recovery and how he turned his life around. Now, he's dedicated to helping others through his work with Family Council Recovery and ARISE Interventions.
This episode is packed with raw honesty and valuable insights for families dealing with addiction, emphasizing the power of support, communication, and unwavering optimism. Tune in to hear Randy's inspiring journey and learn how families can become a solid foundation for recovery.
