Strengthening Youth: The Power of Community Collaboration
I would encourage all educators and for all of us to continue to have the competence to have the conversation- you know that idea- and focusing in on prevention, because the more we put on the front end and front load the information from a prevention side, the goal is not to have as much need for the intervention and the treatment.
How can we better support our youth in navigating the challenges of today? Dr. Jill Hackman, Executive Director of Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) and a board member for the Council on Chemical Abuse, believes that the answer lies in community collaboration. In this episode of 'Your Bridge to Addiction Resources', Dr. Hackman shares her insights on how partnerships between schools and organizations like the Council on Chemical Abuse are crucial for fostering resilience among young people.
Through professional development training and technical assistance, teachers and school administrators gain practical tools and research-based strategies to implement in their schools. This collaborative effort ensures that educators are not just teaching but also guiding students towards healthier choices. Dr. Hackman emphasizes the importance of prevention education, aiming to reduce the need for intervention later on. She encourages parents, professionals, and community members to confidently discuss the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs with youth.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone invested in the well-being of our younger generation.
