I was taught early on in my sobriety that Alcoholics Anonymous isn't a program of 12 steps or 12 principles. And in order for me to have a stable sobriety, then I needed to kind of familiarize myself with the 36 principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Ever wondered how Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) manages to reach those in need without overt advertising? In this episode, Nate, Stacy, and Rick tackle the topic of 'Attraction vs Promotion' during the 55th Annual ICYPAA held in Phoenix, Arizona. These three speakers bring their unique perspectives to the table, sharing heartfelt stories and valuable lessons on maintaining anonymity and the importance of self-sacrifice in recovery.
Nate dives into the 12 traditions of AA, emphasizing spiritual growth and the practice of these principles in daily life. His insights shed light on how AA members can live out these traditions while staying true to the core values of the program. Stacy shares her personal journey from initial skepticism to becoming a beacon of attraction within AA, illustrating the transformative power of the program.
Her story is a testament to how embracing AA's principles can lead to profound personal change. Rick rounds out the discussion with a thorough look at public information work. He explains how sharing the message of recovery through various media and public outreach efforts can help spread hope without compromising the anonymity that is so crucial to AA.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the delicate balance between attracting newcomers and promoting the life-changing principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Whether you're new to AA or a long-time member, this panel offers a wealth of wisdom and practical advice on carrying the message of recovery. Tune in for an enlightening conversation that highlights the power of attraction over promotion in spreading hope and support.
