Michelle Sleight: Turning Trauma into Triumph on Toni TV

I'm proud of the fact that I'm part of the family that are victims of sexual assault, because I think we're amazing, we're amazing people and I think it's important, and I talk about the fact that people need to give themselves credit.
Imagine facing unimaginable pain and emerging as a beacon of strength. That's the story of Michelle Sleight, who joins Toni Lontis on this episode of 'Toni TV'. Michelle's journey is nothing short of harrowing; she endured six rapes and one sexual assault starting at just five years old. But her story doesn't end there. She has also faced a work-related injury that left her in permanent pain, survived stalking, and lost loved ones to domestic murder.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Michelle has transformed her suffering into a mission to help others. She’s an advocate for change in the culture surrounding sexual assault and has set legal precedents to protect victims. In 2010, she even disempowered a sexual predator by refusing to respond like a victim. Michelle authored 'Insight Up Close and Personal Profile of Sexual Assault', a book aimed at helping communities identify sexual predators and respond more effectively to trauma.
In this episode, Michelle shares her invaluable knowledge on stopping trauma from controlling your life. She talks about how reframing narratives can lead to empowerment and resilience. Her insights offer hope and practical advice for anyone struggling with similar experiences. Tune in for an eye-opening discussion that sheds light on the path from victimhood to empowerment.
