Jean's Journey: A Story of Alcoholism and Recovery

My attitude changed, and it's been said- because Alina Lodge is well known throughout the country- that their success rate is about. I want to go, and I did for The Years that I lived there in New Jersey.
Jean's story is one of heartbreak, struggle, and ultimately, hope. From the age of 15, Jean turned to alcohol as a way to cope with the pain and loneliness in her life. She spent years drinking in secret, hiding her addiction from her family and loved ones. But on May 12th, 1983, Jean took her last drink and began the long road to recovery.
In this episode of the Boiled Owl AA Recovery Podcast, Jean shares her journey with Don and Sam. She talks about the desperation she felt as she tried to control her drinking, and the moment when she realized that she couldn't do it alone. She shares how she found hope and support through Alcoholics Anonymous, and how speaker meetings played a crucial role in her early recovery.
One of the key takeaways from Jean's story is the importance of identifying rather than comparing. In the early days of AA, Jean struggled with comparing her story to others, rather than focusing on the ways in which she could identify with them. But as she learned to let go of her ego and embrace the fellowship of AA, she found that she was able to connect with others in a more meaningful way.
Jean's story is a testament to the power of the fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. She credits her sobriety to the support and guidance of her fellow AA members, who carried her through the early days of her recovery. And she emphasizes the importance of finding a sponsor who you are comfortable with, and who can help guide you through the steps of the program.
Throughout the episode, Jean's compassion and authenticity shine through. She speaks openly about the impact of drugs on addiction and recovery, and shares her experiences of traveling and experiencing AA in different parts of the country. Her story is both inspiring and hopeful, a reminder that recovery is possible for anyone who is willing to take the first step.
