David Leech: Transforming School Culture for Mental Wellbeing

I think the key thing that I've really learned is that mental well-being is something that you invest in and it's something. We've made, you know, some, some tweaks to the course and we have then bolted um, bolted support around it to make sure that it's, you know, implemented strongly so that schools get the outcomes that they want and to be able to do that.
Imagine being so dedicated to your job that you lose sight of who you are. That was David Leech, a teacher and headteacher for over twenty years, who became more 'Mr Leech' than David. In this episode of 'Human Reboot', David opens up about his struggle with poor mental health, including moments of suicidal thoughts. He shares his journey of recovery and how he has now dedicated his life to smashing the stigma around mental health in schools.
David talks about the power of gratitude and kindness and how these simple acts can transform lives. He also addresses the often-overlooked impact of social media on mental health and the need for authenticity online. David's new mission is to help schools adopt a whole-school approach to mental wellbeing, ensuring that both teachers and students can thrive. If you're interested in how we can create a supportive environment for our children's mental health, this episode is a must-listen.
