David H. on Daily Spiritual Practices and Overcoming Fears
The one thing that I love about this program is: no matter how long we've been doing it, there's just more to work on, more to uncover more to ask god to remove more to be. Also, I was when I came in, and I'm about to be, and one of the gifts of this program for me anyway has been just this rebirth, almost like this ability to look at my life and the world and all the people in it from these young eyes, as opposed to some people that I know that aren't in the program and my age, that are just sort of sick of the world and sick of life. And you know, I just feel like it's been such a gift.
Ever wondered how a daily spiritual practice can anchor your recovery journey? David H. from Philadelphia shares his story on this episode of the Daily Reflection Podcast. David dives into his routine of asking his Higher Power for the gift of sobriety each day, a habit that has been crucial in maintaining his spiritual condition.
He opens up about the role of honesty and working on character defects, shedding light on how these practices have helped him confront and overcome his fears. David also touches on the diversity of beliefs in a Higher Power within Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), illustrating how different perspectives can coexist and enrich the recovery experience.
He emphasizes the importance of Step Ten, which involves taking a personal inventory and admitting when we are wrong, as a way to keep his life in order. But it doesn't stop there. David discusses the 12th step, focusing on reaching out to others beyond the rooms of AA. This act of service not only helps others but also reinforces his own sobriety.
His story offers a fresh perspective on life, showing how daily spiritual practices and community support can make a world of difference in recovery. Tune in to hear David's inspiring journey and gain some valuable insights for your own path to sobriety.
