Midlife Fuel: How Stacey Ziegler Eats for Energy, Hormones and Faith

Episode Overview

  • Nutrition needs shift in midlife, so simply eating less and exercising more is often unhelpful; the focus moves to eating smarter for a changing body.
  • Prioritising protein at every meal, alongside fibre-rich carbs and healthy fats, can support hormones, muscle, metabolism and more stable energy.
  • Skipping meals, long-term fasting and relying mainly on cardio can leave women under-fuelled; consistent, balanced meals and strength training are recommended.
  • Simple, repeatable meals such as eggs with extra egg whites, tuna on sourdough, Greek yoghurt snacks and fish with veg help keep choices easy and sustainable.
  • Stacey encourages women to see their body as a temple, asking whether they are feeding energy or cravings and taking change one step and one day at a time.
Taking care of our body is not vanity, my friend. It is wisdom.

What drives someone to seek a life that feels energised, steady and God-centred in midlife? In this kitchen-based chat, holistic life coach Stacey Ziegler walks through exactly what she eats in a day at 51 to support energy, hormones, strength and fat loss, while staying alcohol-free and grounded in her faith. Speaking to women in perimenopause and menopause who feel tired despite "doing everything right", Stacey explains why the old eat-less-move-more approach from your 20s and 30s can backfire now.

Metabolism slows, muscle mass drops and hormones become more sensitive, so she shifts the focus to what she calls eating "smarter for your changing body". You’ll hear how her pescetarian, Mediterranean-inspired style looks in real life: breakfasts like eggs with extra egg whites, avocado and sourdough; protein smoothies on busy mornings; tuna sandwiches with healthy fats and fibre; Greek yoghurt with granola for snacks; and simple fish-based dinners with rice, sweet potatoes and plenty of veg.

Instead she now prioritises strength training, consistent meals, 80–90 ounces of water a day and a mindset shift from restriction to fuelling: "Am I feeding my energy or just my cravings?" Threaded through the practical tips is her faith-based perspective that "our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit" and that "taking care of our body is not vanity… it is wisdom." Her message to any woman feeling behind or broken is simple: you’re learning, not failing, and change happens "one step, one choice, one day at a time." Ready to rethink how you’re fuelling your midlife body?

She repeats a simple rhythm: lead with protein, add fibre-rich carbs, include healthy fats, and keep portions realistic. Stacey also shares what she stopped doing in midlife: chronic fasting, skipping meals and relying on cardio alone.
