  • Finding a spiritual home, as Stacey did in the Catholic Church at ten, can bring a deep sense of being "complete and whole".

  • Healing adult wounds often begins by revisiting childhood memories, acknowledging pain, and trusting that God within you is greater than anything you faced.
“Looking back now, I realize that little girl was searching for God.”

How do people find strength in their journey to sobriety and faith? This episode of *Speak Truth* follows Stacey Ziegler as she traces her story back to the little girl she once was, long before marriage, motherhood and adult responsibilities. Stacey speaks directly to women who feel empty, lost or stuck in unhealthy habits, inviting them to pause and remember the child they used to be.

She recalls being four years old, sitting in a dark church with pews and kneelers, sensing she was searching for something she "couldn't even put into words yet".

Years later, that vague longing begins to make sense as she realises, "looking back now, I realise that little girl was searching for God." You’ll hear about her single mum, nights of partying, and even Stacey’s tiny sip of peach schnapps as a child, alongside Sunday school, Baptist baptism and the awkwardness of being put on stage and dunked in water. Despite learning about Jesus, she still felt that "something was missing".

The turning point comes at age ten, when her mum returns to the Catholic Church. Walking into the building, Stacey bursts into tears, thinking, "Oh my goodness. This is the church I've been longing for." From there, she becomes the "church girl"—the one wearing scapulars, rosaries and medals at school, sharing her love for Jesus with friends, doing a 30-day novena at twelve, and even being asked by an older woman if she wants to be a nun.

Throughout, Stacey gently nudges you to reflect on your own childhood wounds and blessings, and how they shape the habits and struggles you carry today. She reminds you that "the one in you is greater than the one in the world" and that healing, forgiveness and change are possible with God’s presence.

If you’re a mum wrestling with addiction or unhealthy patterns, could revisiting the little girl you once were be the first step toward coming home to yourself and to God?
