Leo's Journey: Lessons from a Childhood Shaped by Alcohol

I think I've sort of just come to realise that it's actually okay to feel like that, rather than trying to achieve something which I'm never going to achieve, which is to be like the idea of what a bloke should be, because no one ever taught me how to be a bloke- do you know what I mean?

Growing up with alcohol as a constant presence, Leo had to learn the ropes of an adult world far too soon. In this episode of 'Journeys - Making Recovery from Addiction Visible', Justin sits down with Leo to explore what advice might have helped that young boy navigate his tumultuous youth. Leo, a regular contributor to Towards Recovery since 2018, now uses his lived experience to support others through organizations like DrugFAM.

He shares candid reflections on overcoming the stigma of addiction and the crucial role of support systems in recovery. This conversation sheds light on the winding road of recovery and offers hope that change is possible, no matter how difficult the journey. Tune in for an inspiring story that underscores the power of sharing experiences and the importance of guidance in finding a path to recovery.
