I explained to my son how you need sleep to get gains and explained to him that he's ruined my gains from yesterday. I'm like, you haven't just ruined today because today's fucked now I've had like four and a half hours sleep, I'm like I worked out at the gym for like two hours yesterday pumping iron and your body repairs at night. You might not understand it right now, but when you're a dad and you're trying to make up and band-aid over for all the things you didn't do in your youth then you'll understand.

Ever had one of those nights where sleep is just a distant dream? Comedian David Boyle sure did. In this episode of 'I'm Quitting Alcohol', Boyle takes us through a day that started with big plans for a morning workout with his son. But, as any parent knows, kids have a knack for turning plans upside down. After a restless night, his son's early wake-up call left Boyle feeling like a zombie, furious and drained.

Desperate to salvage his fitness gains, he even found himself explaining the importance of sleep for muscle recovery to his son, who probably just wanted to play. Despite aching knees and a serious lack of sleep, Boyle powered through a kickboxing session, showing us all what determination looks like when you're juggling sobriety and parenthood. His candid and humorous storytelling makes this chaotic day feel incredibly relatable and offers a peek into the rollercoaster ride that is his life.
