Bob's Journey: From Childhood Struggles to Meth Addiction and Recovery

God is present in my life for the first time since I was born, since I was pure.

Bob's story is a powerful tale of battling addiction and seeking acceptance. Growing up as the gay son of Southern Baptist, blue-collar military parents, Bob never felt he truly belonged. His first taste of alcohol came when he swiped a drink from the liquor cabinet while his parents were away. That initial buzz made him feel 'good', but it quickly spiraled into a serious drinking problem by the sixth grade, showing up to class intoxicated.

As an adult, alcohol wasn't enough to numb the pain, and Bob turned to methamphetamine, leading to a deeper descent into addiction. Working in the Artist & Repertoire division of a record label gave him nearly unlimited access to drugs, further fueling his habit. Bob's life became a whirlwind of bankruptcy and failed sobriety attempts. He struggled with the 12-step program, wanting to learn how to drink and use drugs responsibly instead of giving them up entirely.

It wasn't until he made amends and found forgiveness that he began to truly transform his life. Through his journey, Bob discovered the transformative power of a higher power, and how turning his life over to God allowed him to see the truth about himself and find a path to recovery. Bob's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the possibility of redemption, no matter how dark the path may seem.
