“I needed to finish what I was doing so I could be there for her properly. Because if I left then, things might have been different, you know? But they did let me have a pass on the weekends to go see her. And I would spend time with my daughter. And I would catch the train. Mind you, I had never caught the train before because I always had a car. So I never caught the public transportation. All of this was a humbling experience for me, but it was worth going to see my granddaughter.”
