Keith's Transformative Journey: From Isolation to Community Support
I'm doing something that, like, I know, only two other people have done. You know, and I, since I've been in the program, I haven't seen a single one of the other clients have the opportunity that I have, and I don't take that lightly.
Ever wondered how someone can turn their life around after hitting rock bottom? In this episode of 'That was then /// This is now', Garrett Cady catches up with Keith, a familiar voice from a previous episode. Keith's story is one of resilience and growth, as he approaches the milestone of 10 months sober. Now an alumni staff member at Creo Spero, a facility that embraces creative and holistic methods for substance abuse treatment, Keith has truly come full circle.
At Creo Spero, they use art forms like film, photography, podcasting, drawing, and painting to aid in recovery, and Keith is a shining example of its success. He works full-time as a Behavioral Health Technician, making significant contributions to the team. During this conversation, Keith opens up about the importance of setting boundaries in his personal life and recovery journey.
He also shares his experience of contracting COVID-19 and spending time in an isolation assistance program, shedding light on the additional challenges faced during the pandemic. Keith’s transition from being a client to a staff member is a testament to his dedication and hard work. This episode dives deep into the power of community support, the role of art therapy in healing, and the significance of finding passion and purpose after recovery.
Whether you're on your own path to sobriety or supporting someone who is, Keith’s story offers hope and inspiration.
