Larry K.'s Fight for Inclusivity: A Secular Recovery Journey

So I think that if we want to, as a, as a, as a fellowship or a community, want to be open to actually helping, you know, still suffering alcoholics, we have to look at everybody, you know, especially in Canada, where we we have different countries that have moved here, you know, from all over the place, and we have to attend, that we have to be open to them.
Imagine being part of a recovery group that suddenly gets excluded because it doesn't fit the traditional mold. That's exactly what happened to Larry K. and his agnostic recovery group in Toronto. In this episode of 'Beyond Belief Sobriety', Larry opens up about the emotional and legal battles they faced when the Toronto Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous removed their meetings from the directory and silenced their voices at intergroup meetings.
Through Larry's story, you'll get a firsthand look at the hurdles secular recovery groups often encounter and the importance of legal advocacy in these fights. He passionately argues that true recovery support must be inclusive, saying, 'if we want to be open to actually helping still suffering alcoholics, we have to look at everybody'.
This episode is a compelling listen for anyone interested in how secular approaches can broaden the scope of addiction recovery, making it more inclusive and compassionate for everyone. Tune in to hear how Larry's experience underscores the vital role of secular recovery in fostering an open and welcoming environment for all.
