Mariel S. Hufnagel: From Darkness to Advocacy

My recovery has been very challenging The First Couple Of Years. And I say that because I also think that those are some of the things that have catapulted me to advocate so aggressively, because I believe truly that I am, you know, in recovery still to This Day through, like I often say, through grace and grit.

What happens when someone turns their darkest moments into a beacon of hope for others? In this episode of 'Get in the Herd', host Nathan Mitchell sits down with Mariel S. Hufnagel, a true champion in the world of recovery. Mariel’s story is one of resilience and transformation. Growing up in a loving home, she still found herself lacking the tools to cope with life’s challenges, leading her down a path of alcohol and drug use.

But Mariel didn’t let her struggles define her. Instead, she used them as a stepping stone to become an advocate for others battling substance use disorders. She speaks candidly about her journey from incarceration to recovery, emphasizing the pivotal role of community support and education in her life. Mariel’s mission now is to dismantle the stigma surrounding addiction and to create systems of care that are informed by recovery experiences.

Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of supportive networks. Tune in to hear Mariel’s inspiring journey and learn how she's making a difference in the recovery community.
