Caitlin's Journey: From Loss and Addiction to Gratitude and Recovery

I really thought that the day I came to MARR was the worst day of my life, and now it was the best, like it literally set the stage for exactly where I am now, and I'm very grateful.

Caitlin's story is a poignant reminder of how intertwined loss and addiction can be. Starting to drink at just 15, Caitlin faced the heartbreak of her mother's cancer diagnosis, which only fueled her alcoholism. By the time she turned 20, her mother had passed away, and her father was also battling cancer. Her college years were marred by excessive drinking, culminating in a hospitalization with a dangerously high blood alcohol level. But Caitlin's story doesn't end there.

Her brother's intervention led her to MARR, where she began the difficult but rewarding journey to recovery. In this episode, Caitlin opens up about the importance of being genuine and honest during treatment. She shares how the support of a community can make all the difference and challenges the notion that recovery requires perfection. Instead, she advocates for trusting those who guide you and embracing the process, imperfections and all.

Caitlin's journey underscores that even amidst adversity, there is room for gratitude and hope.
