Half-MeasuresHalf-Measures
On the Battlefield
In this episode, our hosts discuss "half-measures" and how, when we hold back from fully engaging the Kingdom of God, we put ourselves at risk of nominalism and relapse. Drawing from the Lord's teaching about "cutting off our right hand", and the admonition in the Revelation of St. John, we see that being lukewarm avails us nothing and damages those around us. We must follow the advice of St. John Chrysostom to be strict with ourselves and merciful to others, for the culture in which we find ourselves isn't getting any holier, reducing truth to sentimentality and robbing us of the peace that surpasses all understanding. We must not be content with half-measures.

Michael Marcantoni tackle the concept of 'half-measures' in both spirituality and addiction recovery. The discussion revolves around the idea that lukewarm commitment can lead to nominalism and relapse, drawing on Biblical teachings like 'cutting off the right hand' and St. John Chrysostom's advice to be strict with oneself while being merciful to others.
The hosts explore how society's tendency to reduce truth to sentimentality can undermine genuine spiritual and personal growth. Fr. Michael shares insights from the recovery community, emphasising that sobriety isn't just about abstaining from alcohol but involves a complete transformation of character. This episode challenges listeners to examine their own lives for areas where they might be holding back and to consider the cost of half-hearted measures in their spiritual journey.
It's a call to action for anyone looking to deepen their faith and commitment, reminding us that true peace and love often involve facing uncomfortable truths and conflicts. Are you ready to cut off what's holding you back?
