“So an example of this was like Harry Styles, as it was, that was on a lot of TikTok videos, but it wasn't the shiny chorus. It was actually this weird little coda at the end, and it's all on one note. It's like when he goes like, you know, high-speed internet. I don't want to talk about the way that it was, yes, yeah. It's all on one note, right? And so when I heard the whole song for the first time, I'm like, this doesn't sound at all like that weird little bit at the end, even though that is really catchy. So that's not necessarily what the artist intended to be the hook, but that's the audience taking that and making it the hook.”
