Adam Bartlett's Journey: From Desperation to Leadership in Recovery

I went from taking my prescriptions as prescribed to getting more and more, to constantly calling my doctor and trying different variations, from percocet, the vicodin, the tramadol to whatever I could mix it with, and in the beginning I could function to the point. You know it got to the point where I couldn't function anymore. I just couldn't hold it together. This disease took me over and I didn't realize until I lost my career and ultimately I ended up robbing a pharmacy.
Ever wondered how a former police officer found new purpose after hitting rock bottom? Adam Bartlett’s story is one of incredible transformation. Injured on duty, Adam spiraled into an addiction that cost him his career and led to a desperate robbery. But for Adam, jail became a turning point, not an end. In this episode of 'Healing Voices Project', he opens up about his journey from addiction to recovery and his current role as a leader at the Michael J.
Dias Foundation. Through raw honesty and vulnerability, Adam shares how halfway houses and recovery programs were pivotal in his healing process. He also discusses the critical role of empathy in law enforcement and the intricate link between addiction and crime. Adam’s work at the foundation is changing lives, offering hope and support to those struggling with addiction. This episode is a powerful reminder that no matter how lost you feel, recovery is possible, and there's always a way forward.
