Nicki's Journey: From Meth Addiction to Family and Recovery

What really was the bottom for me was when I became okay with losing. And what happened for me is I accepted the fact that I was just going to hurt people, that I was no good for my kids.

Nicki's story is one that grips you from the start. Imagine starting drug use at just 11 years old, then escalating to meth by age 13. This episode of Steppin' Out Radio takes you through the tumultuous life of Nicki, who not only battled her own addiction but also found herself using meth with her father by age 14.

Her life took a dramatic turn when she ended up stranded in California, selling meth just to get back home to Oregon. Fast forward to age 16, and Nicki reconnects with a childhood friend, Nick, who had managed to stay clean. They fall in love, become parents, but sadly, find themselves using meth together while caring for their baby.

Nicki’s journey through addiction is filled with heart-wrenching lows, including living in a camp trailer with her daughter and several family members, and experiencing a mental health crisis that led to hospitalization. However, her story doesn’t end there. With the help of intensive outpatient treatment, support meetings, and sheer determination, Nicki turns her life around. Her story is a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with addiction.

It’s a raw and real testament to the power of support systems and the courage to seek help. If you're looking for a story that’s both heartbreaking and uplifting, this episode is a must-listen.
