Faith and Recovery: Finding Justification Beyond Forgiveness

Episode Overview

  • The transformative nature of being accounted righteous
  • The profound significance of God's forgiveness and grace
  • The Old Testament's enduring relevance in modern spiritual journeys
  • Understanding the concept of spiritual defence and redemption
  • Exploring the power of faith in intercepting addiction
My goodness, think of how great then forgiveness is. God doesn't simply come along to you and say, you know, son, I know you've done a lot of sinning, but forget it. I'm just forgetting it too. Well, of course God does in a certain sense. Forget it. He will remember our sins no more. He will cast them into the depths of the sea. But he does more than that. He treats you or counts you as if you had never sinned. And more accurately, he treats you or counts you as if you had always been righteous.
Colin Cook's podcast 'How It Happens' dives deep into the intersection of faith and addiction recovery. In this episode, Colin tackles the idea of righteousness by faith alone, using powerful references from the Old Testament to illuminate how these ancient teachings apply to our modern lives. He passionately discusses the transformative power of being seen as righteous and what it means to be not just forgiven, but justified in the eyes of God.
Colin’s heartfelt approach brings these concepts to life, offering listeners a chance to reflect on forgiveness, grace, and spiritual protection against life's accusations. Whether you're on your own recovery journey or supporting someone who is, this episode provides a blend of theological wisdom and practical guidance that's both inspiring and deeply comforting.
