Empowering Youth Through Stories: Anna Gabriella Casalme on Novelly
“I've always wanted us to be very youth-driven and have young people work directly with our team pretty much every week, so that we're never disconnected from the people that we're trying to serve.”
Picture a world where young people drive the conversation on civic engagement. That's exactly what Anna Gabriella Casalme is doing with her innovative reading app, Novelly. In this episode of the Hippie Haven podcast, host Callee chats with Anna about how she's using stories to spark meaningful discussions and inspire action among youth. With a rich background in child health, design thinking, and technology, Anna brings a unique perspective to the table.
She shares her journey from battling imposter syndrome to creating a platform that empowers young voices. One standout moment is when Anna talks about the importance of surrounding yourself with positive energy and how it can shape your outlook. The episode also features a poignant poem, 'Year of the Rat', by Alyssa Hsiao, reflecting on Anti-Asian racism during COVID-19.
Whether you're interested in youth activism, tech innovation, or just love a good story, this episode offers a fresh take on how literature can be a catalyst for change.
