Imagine finding your first love in something as destructive as fentanyl. For Chelsey Laliberte, this was her reality. Growing up without a father figure, she sought connection and ended up entangled in gang life and addiction. Chelsey's story is a raw and honest look at how distorted one's worldview can become when driven by the need to fill emotional voids. She reflects on her past, saying, 'My will to live became stronger than my want to struggle'.
This turning point led her to transform her life, channeling the same energy she used for gang activities into something positive and legal. Now a social work student in Saskatoon, SK, Chelsey's journey is a testament to resilience and the power of self-love and community support. Her experience also sheds light on the unique challenges faced by indigenous communities in dealing with substance abuse.
