I want to be this cheerleader for these women that maybe don't have the courage because they're not sure how it's going to be received. And maybe they don't have that support group. I do believe going forward with something like this, you do need a support group. There is a wonderful, wonderful woman that I have been speaking with, and I'm not sharing any names or anything or any details, but, you know, we're kind of working through how she feels about going forward and telling her story and making a police report. I think her biggest fear is, or, well, she's told me her biggest fear is that, you know, either they won't believe her or somehow it'll get turned back on her and be her fault. And I resonate with that so much.
Imagine being 14 and having your world turned upside down by someone you trusted. That's exactly what happened to Kalli Tedder, who shares her heart-wrenching story in this episode of 'Stop Child Abuse Now'. Kalli recounts the years of grooming and abuse she endured at the hands of her neighbor, a man who should have been a protector but instead became her abuser.
The ordeal didn't end quickly; it stretched on until she was nearly done with high school, leaving deep emotional scars. But Kalli didn't let her story end there. Thirteen years later, she found the courage to speak out, starting with telling her dad. Her bravery didn't stop with just speaking up; she pursued justice relentlessly, and after five grueling years, her abuser was convicted. Today, Kalli channels her experiences into helping others.
She founded 'Wildflower', a Sexual Trauma Support Group for Women, offering a safe space for survivors to share their stories and find comfort in shared experiences. Kalli's unwavering commitment to supporting other women in similar situations is a testament to her resilience and strength. This episode is a powerful reminder that healing is possible and that justice, though hard-won, is worth fighting for.
