Victoria Kelly: From Childhood Trauma to Advocacy and Healing
Things will get better, and you know that that's all it takes is just a little bit of faith.
What happens when a childhood filled with unimaginable abuse meets a spirit determined to heal? In this episode of 'Stop Child Abuse Now', Victoria Kelly from Minneapolis, Minnesota, returns to share her harrowing yet inspiring story. Abused in almost every conceivable way from birth, Victoria faced repeated torment from various predators and an alcoholic father who physically abused both her and her mother.
Believing this was the norm for those living on the 'wrong side of the tracks', she withdrew into herself, finding little justice for her suffering. Early on, she began to disassociate, a condition later diagnosed as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Victoria spent years in and out of mental hospitals, where she found solace in the kindness of the staff and the guidance of a dedicated psychiatrist who helped her for 13 years.
Now, Victoria is not just a survivor but an advocate. She is organizing a special event in October for Domestic Violence Awareness and will soon be co-hosting these SCAN shows. Her journey underscores the power of professional help, community support, and unwavering faith. This episode offers hope and practical advice for anyone grappling with the aftermath of childhood trauma. Victoria's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the possibility of recovery.
