AmyAnna Soto: Transforming Trauma with Somatic Mindful Guided Imagery®
Who else is going to protect and love me if my own parents, if my own people who are supposed to didn't do it?
How does someone turn a life filled with terror into one of healing and support for others? Meet AmyAnna Soto from Modesto, California. AmyAnna's childhood was marred by sexual, physical, and mental abuse, compounded by rape and long-term stalking. The adults in her life were self-labeled sadists, making her early years a waking nightmare. But AmyAnna didn't let her past define her future.
Over the last 20 years, she has reinvented herself through various healing methods, including therapy, art, journaling, and support groups. One of her most transformative tools has been Somatic Mindful Guided Imagery® (SMGI®), which has helped her process traumatic memories in a safe environment. As a former Certified Nursing Assistant and sexual assault advocate, AmyAnna has cared for many in their darkest moments. Now, as an SMGI® guide, she helps trauma survivors navigate their own healing journeys.
In this episode, AmyAnna discusses the importance of support groups, therapy, and self-care in overcoming trauma. She also touches on the complexities of relationships post-trauma and emphasizes the ongoing nature of recovery. Her story is a testament to resilience and the power of taking control of one's healing journey.
