I don't even really think about forever even now. Do I ever want to drink again? No. I hope I stay really diligent in my game and working on myself to make sure that I don't have a desire to drink, but it just has so little to do with drinking anymore. You know what I'm saying? It's all the other stuff. It's my self-respect. I don't want to lose that. I like liking me. It took me a really long time to become a person that I like. And I owe all of that to my sobriety. I wouldn't have that if it wasn't for my sobriety.

Imagine thinking you’ve got your drinking under control, only to realize that moderation isn't working. That's exactly what Casey Davidson, the host of the Hello Someday podcast, faced. In this episode of Addiction Unlimited, Angela Pugh chats with Casey about her journey from trying to moderate her drinking to embracing sobriety. Casey had it all on the surface—a successful career at a Fortune 500 company, a loving family, and a seemingly perfect life.

But behind the scenes, she struggled with alcohol dependency, just like many others. Casey's story is a relatable one for anyone who's tried setting rules like 'only on weekends' or 'no liquor, just beer' in an attempt to manage their drinking. These rules often crumble, leading to the realization that moderation isn't enough. Casey shares her fears and anxieties about quitting alcohol and the baby steps she took towards sobriety.

She talks openly about the emotional and mental toll of dependency and how societal perceptions can make it even harder to seek help. Through her candid conversation with Angela, listeners gain insight into the challenges of alcohol dependency and the importance of finding support. Casey's journey is a testament to the complexities of addiction and the empowering process of recovery.

If you've ever struggled with moderating your drinking or wondered if sobriety is possible for you, this episode offers hope and practical advice from someone who's been there.
