The key to this whole program is to stay awake and the only way I could stay awake is to talk to the higher power otherwise I'm sleeping but that's what the great thing about the ego and alcoholism is because it puts me back to sleep but because I watch my mind I get to wake up again and I get to go oh thank you god for waking me up by showing me my ego again thank you for waking me back up.
Imagine sitting in a room in Berlin, Germany, and hearing a Texan named Texas T unravel the mysteries of ego in the context of alcoholism recovery. This isn't just any workshop; it's a deep dive into the teachings of Dr. Harry M. Tiebout, a pioneer who married the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous with psychiatric insights. Held in August 2023, this session is part one of a two-part series and spans an enlightening three hours.
Texas T doesn't just lecture; he shares his own battles with denial and resistance, making the abstract concept of ego relatable and human. He talks about how surrendering to a higher power isn't a sign of weakness but a step toward self-discovery and recovery. Throughout the workshop, you'll find a focus on mindfulness, acceptance, and spirituality, all presented in a way that's both engaging and insightful.
If you're struggling with the influence of ego in your recovery journey or just curious about the intersection of psychology and AA principles, this episode offers a treasure trove of wisdom and practical advice.
