How do people find strength in their journey to sobriety and beyond? This milestone 100th episode of UK Health Radio’s *We Empower* brings together big-picture vision and very down-to-earth tools for staying grounded in chaotic times. Host Prof. Dr. Anabel Ternès von Hattburg chats with global journalist, moderator and DJ Martina Fuchs, who describes herself as a “global citizen” and fluent speaker of nine languages.

Martina shares how her path from Reuters in Dubai to Chinese national television, and eventually to co-founding The Frequency School, has centred on one core idea: connection – between cultures, between people, and through sound. You’ll hear how Martina and her co-founder Major, a Grammy-nominated producer and cancer survivor, use specific sound frequencies to support mental and physical wellbeing.

She explains projects in New Delhi, Dharamsala and Johannesburg, where they build music studios and “wellness labs” for underserved young people aged roughly 7 to 18, giving them tools to create music, manage stress and express themselves in healthier ways. A standout moment is Martina’s story of 200 children in India lying down to “draw what you hear” as healing frequencies played, shifting from noise and restlessness to calm and imagination.

She also talks frankly about three days in total darkness in Poland, the fear of being alone with yourself, and why purpose matters more than perfection. Martina’s practical tips – early-morning exercise, healthier food, gratitude, and swapping harsh beats for calming frequencies – sit alongside a gentle challenge: “never let anybody put you in a box”.

For anyone rethinking their relationship with alcohol, mental health or old identities, this conversation offers fresh ideas on how sound, community and small daily habits can support a life that actually feels good. What simple frequency – or daily habit – could you bring into your routine to make your own world a little kinder?
