I wanted to be sober at the time, but I truly believe for whatever reason I was incapable of doing so. Methadone in particular brought my tolerance to opiates so high that I could have overdosed, but I wasn't overdosing because my tolerance was so high. Suboxone, same kind of thing. I do believe that methadone and suboxone kept me alive until I was capable of complete abstinence of being sober.
