“This illness hadn't progressed that far for me. There was long periods of time, guys, where I drank and wasn't getting in a lot of trouble, wasn't causing a lot of problems. But I got to tell you one of the things that started happening with me early on, guys, this is in the 70s, I started experiencing this thing called depression, and I'm not talking about a little blue day, you know, I'm talking about, man, I hate my life, and I'm making, you know, some money, and, you know, blah, blah, blah, everything on the outside looks like I'm okay, and the inside, I'm not a happy camper.”
