Laura Lively’s Transformation: From Addiction to a Life of Health and Happiness
I think it's pretty fair to say that the research that came out of Harvard, that show that addicts of all stripes, if they can get Five Years of back-to-back, they have a near zero percent of relapse, that there's an identity shift, that the likelihood of them ever really going back is almost zero, which is pretty cool.
Laura Lively's story is one of profound transformation. By the age of three, she was already struggling with weight issues, setting the stage for a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and desperate attempts to find balance. As she entered college, her weight had soared to 297 pounds. Despite rigorous calorie counting and exercise, a devastating hip injury led to a decade of relentless pain.
The only relief she found came from bottles of wine, turning her into a functional alcoholic who often drank to the point of blackouts. Her life spiraled further out of control, and when she tipped the scales at over 300 pounds, she knew something drastic had to change but had no idea where to start. Then, a seemingly random email about sugar and food addiction coupled with internal family systems therapy landed in her inbox.
This email became the catalyst for an incredible transformation. Now, six years later, Laura has not only reached her goal weight but maintained it for five years. She’s healthier and happier than ever before. In this episode of The Kick Sugar Coach Podcast, Laura shares her journey from despair to hope, from addiction to sobriety, and from chronic pain to a life filled with joy. She delves into how self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-leadership played crucial roles in her recovery.
