Join Wayne Giles as he reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. In this Step 2 AA session, Wayne explores a core concept from the Big Book: that deep down in every man, woman, and child lies the fundamental idea of God. This idea is often obscured by life’s calamities, by pride, or by the worship of other things, but it remains present in some form within all of us.
“Where’s the problem center? In the mind, right? But where’s the fundamental idea of God? It lives deep down inside.”
Wayne discusses how, despite the many distractions and challenges we face, the fundamental idea of God is an intrinsic part of our being. It may be buried under layers of pain or confusion, but it is always there, waiting to be uncovered. This session encourages participants to reflect on their own spiritual journey, recognizing that the path to recovery involves reconnecting with this deep, innate understanding of a higher power. By doing so, we align our minds and spirits with the power that can lead us out of addiction and into a life of peace and purpose.
