Joe explains, “We must take the lead. A remorseful mumbling that we’re sorry won’t fill the bill at all. We ought to sit down with the family and frankly analyze the past as we now see it. So how do we see the past? Hopefully, our perspective’s grown. I saw the part I played, the harms I inflicted, the fear that drove it. I now know what’s driving them when they act out toward me. It’s the same fear. I know what it’s like to be afraid.”
