Virtual Support: Quest Community Health Centre's Innovative Response to COVID-19

We're looking at ways to support people in different ways than we probably normally would. If you're already experiencing any kind of a social anxiety or a feeling less than the other people who are in the store, that could be a fairly traumatic thing, whereas some of us say: hey, yay, I got to go to the grocery store and get out of my house exactly exactly.

Imagine trying to access vital mental health services during a pandemic, especially when you’re living on a low income and internet access is a luxury. That’s the reality for many clients of Quest Community Health Centre in St. Catharines. When COVID-19 hit, Quest had to pivot quickly to continue supporting their community. In this episode of 'Life Unscripted', host Janice Arnoldi sits down with Executive Director Nancy Garner to discuss how Quest has embraced the virtual world.

From setting up online group programs to finding creative ways to reach those without reliable internet, Quest has been a lifeline for many. Garner shares stories of reducing anxiety around primary care access and supporting migrant agricultural workers in isolation. If you're curious about how one organization is making a big difference during challenging times, this episode is a must-listen.
