I think drinking alone at home is one of the scariest things I can remember ever doing. It's the loneliness and it's that your mind is your only company and it's your own mind. There's the self-hatred and there's no one telling you, don't be silly, you're not like that. We are our own worst enemies. And when we're drunk, and that's the only voice you hear, I think it is really scary.

What happens when drinking stops being social and becomes a lonely habit? In this episode of The Sober Effect, hosts Kate and Steph sit down with Dave Wilson, a well-known figure in the sober community, to discuss his personal battle with solitary drinking. Dave opens up about the emotional toll of drinking alone, from the creeping depression to the overwhelming sense of isolation.

He shares how this habit affected his mental health and relationships, and the dangerous situations he found himself in when there was no one around to help. Kate and Steph bring their own experiences to the table, making this conversation a heartfelt exchange about the hidden struggles of alcohol dependency. They also talk about the importance of seeking support and finding a community that understands.

If you've ever felt alone in your struggle with alcohol or know someone who does, this episode offers a powerful message of hope and connection.
