Fatih Penda's Path to Sobriety: From Struggles to Leading Others in Recovery
"I’m able to get high on life with sobriety." -Faith Penda
What happens when a young man, torn between two cultures and battling addiction, finds his way to sobriety? In this episode of Real Recovery Talk, Tom Conrad and co-host Ben sit down with Fatih Penda, a man whose journey from addiction to leading a recovery center is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up in Salem, Massachusetts, with a Muslim background, Fatih always felt out of place.
His struggles began early, with alcohol and drug use escalating through high school and beyond. Summers spent in Turkey added another layer of complexity to his life, where cultural differences and the lack of drinking age laws made it easy for him to indulge. By eighth grade, Fatih found himself starting high school in Turkey, further deepening his addiction. Despite these challenges, Fatih's story is one of resilience.
He turned his life around through the support of AA and the 12-step program. Now sober, he dedicates his life to helping others find their path to recovery. This episode is a powerful testament to the importance of community and the transformative power of giving back.
