Katrina King's Journey: From Prison to Purposeful Recovery Coaching
I loved my children, even getting well, I thought, was my way of loving them, because if I was well, I could be a better mother to them. And I think more parents if they thought of it that way, they might make better choices.
Imagine being trapped in jail, knowing your child is spiraling into addiction. This was Katrina King's reality in 2011. While she was incarcerated for prescription fraud and other charges, her 20-year-old daughter Kirstyn fell deep into the grip of prescription pills. The heartache escalated when Katrina learned that Kirstyn, once terrified of needles, was now injecting drugs. Tragically, Kirstyn overdosed just days after Katrina received the devastating news. This episode of 'Unpause Your Life' with Dr.
Cali Estes and Master Coach Jenny Fontana features Katrina sharing her harrowing journey from a painful past to becoming a beacon of hope for others. Raised in the harsh environment of the California desert during the 70s, Katrina faced child abuse, sexual assaults, and the death of her parents. Despite achieving a successful career and becoming a loving mother, unresolved trauma eventually led her down a path of addiction and legal troubles.
After losing her daughter, Katrina found herself at a crossroads. Instead of succumbing to despair, she channeled her grief into creating Recovered Purpose and the Addictions Academy, where she now trains others in recovery coaching, life coaching, and family coaching. Her story, also featured in the FBI's 'Chasing the Dragon' documentary, underscores the power of resilience and self-love in overcoming life's darkest moments.
Tune in to hear how Katrina transformed her pain into a mission to help others break free from addiction.
