I think we tend to overestimate the power of our will to just push through things because we'll think I should be able to just take the guitar out of the case. But I think we underestimate how much our actions are driven by these kind of non-cognitive behavioral associations that we have, patterns of reward or punishment that we're not aware of, but that are shaping our actions, shaping our lives really in powerful ways.
Ever wondered how mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can transform your life? Seth Gillihan, a clinical psychologist and author, shares his personal journey of overcoming health challenges and finding peace in this engaging episode of The One You Feed. Host Eric Zimmer dives deep with Seth, exploring how his experiences reshaped his approach to therapy and life. Seth's candidness about his struggles makes his insights relatable and practical for anyone seeking to improve their mental well-being.
He emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and acceptance, offering actionable advice on integrating mindfulness into daily routines. The conversation touches on embracing uncertainty, shifting thoughts and actions, and the 'Think, Act, Be' approach that Seth advocates. If you're looking for ways to reduce suffering and enhance your peace of mind, this episode provides valuable guidance on navigating life's complexities with a mindful and compassionate perspective.
