Community Action: National Prescription Drug Take Back Day with Jennifer Alsina

So This Day is an opportunity for everybody to look in their medicine cabinet, see what's in there and take it to a dropbox location. It's important because, for one, we're reducing accessibility of those drugs for youth and other individuals that have access to our home.

Imagine a day dedicated to cleaning out your medicine cabinet and making your community safer. That's exactly what National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is all about. In this episode of 'Resilient and Real', Aymara Freeman chats with Jennifer Alsina, the Deputy Director for Substance Use Disorder and Recovery Services at the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health. They dive into how this initiative helps prevent prescription drug misuse and how you can get involved.

Jennifer also sheds light on the comprehensive services available for those battling substance use disorders, including treatment options and support for co-occurring conditions. But that's not all. You'll also hear a moving poem about recovery from Sondra Savage, a Peer and Family Advocate, and a heartfelt self-care story from Fabiola Yañez, a DBH Secretary. Plus, there's a sneak peek into upcoming events like their book club.

This episode is packed with information and inspiration, showing how small actions can lead to big changes in our communities.
