And what I didn't understand primarily, and this is what really got to me, that it didn't matter how often or what I drank or when I drank, it was what happened from time to time when I drank. And that just blew me away. And it actually saved my life.
Lesley once thought her drinking habits didn't fit the typical image of an alcoholic. In this episode of 'SoberQ', she shares her deeply personal story of how she came to understand and accept her alcoholism. Initially resistant to the label, Lesley recounts how her experiences in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the support of inspiring women in the fellowship helped her see the true nature of her condition.
Her journey highlights the importance of surrendering to the process and diligently following the program, which ultimately transformed her life. This episode goes beyond the stereotypes, exploring the nuanced reality of alcoholism and the critical need to recognize one's place on the spectrum of addiction. Lesley's story is a powerful reminder that acceptance and commitment to recovery can lead to profound personal growth.
