Colleen O's Journey: Healing Through Recovery and Alternative Therapies

I went to stay with a friend of mine and I couldn't stop the voices, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't go to sleep and I would drink a lot to go to sleep. So I would drink to go to sleep and then I would wake up and then I would have another drink or two and go back to sleep.

Dayna Keyes welcomes a long-time friend, Colleen O, to share her deeply personal story of addiction and recovery. Colleen, who has many years of sobriety under her belt, opens up about her struggles with alcohol and the inner turmoil that led her to seek solace in drinking. She candidly discusses how she coped with the voices in her head and the battle to find peace at night.

This episode is not just about the dark times; it’s also about the light at the end of the tunnel. Colleen reveals how she discovered alternative healing methods, such as Somatic Experiencing, which played a crucial role in her recovery. Together, Dayna and Colleen delve into the importance of addressing trauma as part of the healing process. They also touch on the challenges of finding a supportive community and the therapeutic benefits of journaling and sharing experiences in meetings.

This episode is a heartfelt conversation filled with raw honesty, offering hope and practical insights for anyone on their own journey to recovery.
