Veterans' Voices: Shaun Reightler's Return

We have to deal with people spitting in our faces and calling us baby killers. And when the general public- the less than one, the less than that- actually knows, you know the rest of society who's never been there, never experienced it, never taken orders to do something they might not have wanted to do they, they have no clue.
Imagine coming home after serving your country, only to be met with hostility and misunderstanding. That's exactly what happened to Shaun Reightler, who joins Adam Banotai once again on 'The Situation Report'. In this episode, Shaun opens up about the harsh realities veterans face every day, from homelessness and addiction to mental health struggles. He recalls the painful experience of being called a 'baby killer' upon his return and the lasting impact of such stigma.
The discussion doesn't shy away from tough topics, including the general public's ignorance about veterans' experiences and a perceived decline in patriotism. Adam and Shaun express their frustration over the lack of understanding and support for those who've served. They highlight how these societal attitudes can lead to severe mental health issues and addiction among veterans. The One Fight Foundation, dedicated to combating veteran suicide, offers peer-to-peer support and encourages veterans to reach out for help.
This episode is a raw and honest look at the challenges veterans face and a call to action for greater empathy and support.
