This conversation on *The Call with Nancy Sabato* follows singer-songwriter and worship leader Justin Gambino as he talks honestly about shame, second chances and learning that "your past doesn’t cancel God’s plan." At 18, Justin’s bad choices landed him in a courthouse facing either jail or the military. For years he avoided that part of town, trying to bury the memories.
Then God led him straight back to those same courthouse steps – this time to lead a sold-out night of worship. Justin admits he argued with God about it, saying he didn’t want to return to the place marked by his worst decisions. On stage, in the middle of worship, everything shifted: "Justin, I didn’t bring you here for them.
I brought you here for you and me." He ended up on his face, weeping, realising that God’s plan for his life hadn’t changed – God finally had his "undivided attention." Justin also talks about years of infertility, the exhaustion of "watching the calendar," and the moment he and his wife quietly gave up on having a biological child.
A simple prayer in a writer’s room, a song called *Depend on You*, and a phone call a week later – "I’m pregnant" – turned into a full-circle moment as he later held his sleeping son while listening back to the track they wrote the day they prayed for him. This episode speaks strongly to anyone in recovery who thinks they’re "too dirty, too angry, or too far gone" for Jesus.
