I could myself choose to get better at something and didn't need the permission of a boss. I know that I myself was placing far too much emphasis on their approval and their permission and that's not their fault that's I think that's also partly just how I'm wired slightly so it's also about shifting those wires and learning how to like um yeah rewire some of that thinking.
