Jeff Rothman: From TV Sales to Mental Health Advocate

One of the big findings in my research is that if depression or mental health issues go unchecked, then that turns into risky behavior, that turns into addiction, alcoholism, pills, domestic violence, rape and maybe even suicide.
Jeff Rothman's story is one of transformation and resilience. Once immersed in the high-pressure world of advertising sales at Versus television network, Jeff made a life-changing pivot. Now, he works as a behavioral tech at a drug and alcohol rehab center in Malibu, California, while studying for his counseling license.
In this episode of 'Time Out for Mental Health', host Tim Krass sits down with Jeff to discuss his remarkable journey and the personal battles that led him to his current path. Jeff opens up about his struggles with feelings of abandonment and the quest for love, shedding light on how these experiences shaped his mental health.
The conversation highlights the importance of mentorship and the courage it takes to ask for help, especially in a society that often equates masculinity with self-reliance. Jeff's candidness provides a safe space for listeners to explore the complexities of mental health. He emphasizes the need for open dialogue and shares practical mental health practices he's adopted, including therapy.
This episode offers valuable insights into the role of a behavioral tech in a rehab setting and underscores the critical importance of discussing mental health openly. Whether you're grappling with similar issues or seeking to understand the challenges faced by those in recovery, Jeff's story is both enlightening and inspiring.
