From Pulpit to Recovery: Pastor Tullian's Story of Hope and Healing

The only reason I am pastoring a church again is because the church in general desperately needs to recover a sense that it is a recovery ministry, that a church isn't an organization of good people who have a recovery ministry for bad people on Tuesday Nights.

Ever wondered how the Church and recovery communities can learn from each other? In this episode of Real Recovery Talk, host Tom Conrad sits down with Pastor Tullian Tchividjian to explore this very topic. Growing up in a supportive Christian home, Tullian's journey took a dramatic turn when he began experimenting with drugs and alcohol at 16. His decision to leave home rather than give up substances led him down a path of addiction, emptiness, and regret.

By 21, he realized he needed a change and returned to his faith, much like the Prodigal Son in the Bible. Tullian shares his raw and honest experiences, emphasizing the power of vulnerability, forgiveness, and unconditional love in recovery. He believes the Church can break the stigma of addiction by adopting recovery principles and becoming a sanctuary for those seeking healing. This episode is a heartfelt conversation about bridging gaps, breaking stigmas, and finding hope in unexpected places.
