Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACA) is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of people who meet to share our experience of growing up in an environment where abuse, neglect, and trauma infected us. “I get to heal by accepting love. That's the acceptance. Can I accept love inside of that awareness of betrayal and hate and mercilessness and just absolute treacherousness that happened as a young child and a young adult and a young woman? Can I go ahead and be aware and allow myself to feel the pain of that agony, of that distrust and betrayal, and just the nonsensical things that should not. I say should, as if I know something, but happened.”
